Isidro Metapan - Santa Tecla 78-76 Liga MB round 11 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Santa Tecla (6-2) against fourth ranked Isidro Metapan (5-4) 78-76 was the most important game of the last round. Dominican center Miguel Evangelista (210-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 22 rebounds. Naturalized Canadian Jose Colorado (188-90) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Five Isidro Metapan players scored in double figures. Cuban Lisvan Maza (196-88) answered with 29 points and 8 rebounds and center Carlos Arias (200-89) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Santa Tecla. Santa Tecla's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Isidro Metapan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 5-4 record. Santa Tecla at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Quezaltepeque. They were replaced at the leadership position by San Salvador. Aguila outscored guests from Santa Ana 100-76. Aguila dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 42. They outrebounded Santa Ana 50-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. Aguila players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Luis Almonte (187-88) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. American-Colombian forward Freddy Asprilla (208-88, college: Canisius) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 21 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Aguila players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican point guard Lee Vazquez (173-91, college: Westfield St.) produced 26 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and A Benson Lebron added 32 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aguila moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Brujos Izalco. Santa Ana at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Sixth ranked Cojute (4-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Halcones (2-7). Cojute defeated Halcones 98-87. Cojute made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Cojute outrebounded Halcones 48-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for forward Quincy Scates (198-89, college: Tenn Wesleyan) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Point guard Shahmel Brackett (183-91, college: UNC Pembroke) helped adding 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Marcus Thomas (191-95, college: Rosemont) responded with 39 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ronald Patten (201-93, college: Wisc.-Whitewater) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Cojute moved-up to fifth place. Halcones lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Santa Ana. Third ranked San Salvador (7-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Brujos Izalco (3-5). San Salvador defeated Brujos Izalco 86-74 on Sunday. San Salvador shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-91) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Panamanian Daniel King (203-87, college: Texas Southern) accounted for 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Four San Salvador players scored in double figures. Naturalized Canadian point guard Jose Araujo (187-86, college: UNBC, agency: Interperformances) came up with 28 points and American forward Marcus Faison (196-94, college: Salem St.) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Brujos Izalco in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for San Salvador. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Brujos Izalco dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Aguila.
